What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a titanium post surgically implanted into the jawbone below the gum surface. Over a few months, the jawbone fuses to the implant, forming a stable foundation for a “new” tooth, otherwise known as a dental crown.

Dental implants can replace a single tooth, multiple missing teeth, or a full set of teeth altogether with dental crowns, bridges, and dentures.

Dental Implants vs. Dentures: Which Is Better?

Dental implants have many advantages over their denture counterpart. Once in place, dental implants require little to no maintenance. Removable dentures, on the other hand, are traditionally held together with paste or an adhesive wafer and also require nightly cleaning.

Implants can, however, anchor permanent full or partial dentures. Because they are strong, sturdy, and reliable, dental implants reduce the need for messy adhesives and unsightly slippage, making them much more comfortable for the patient. The best part? Care is very simple, as patients only need to brush, floss, and visit their dentist for regular cleanings.

If you’re not sure if dental implants are right for you, contact us to schedule an appointment. Dr. Burtwistle will help determine the best care plan and go over the treatment procedure with you.

Reconstructive Dentistry

Do you have missing, cracked, decaying, or damaged teeth as the result of cavities, gum disease, or a misaligned jaw?

If so, you may be a candidate for dental reconstruction. By combining the aesthetics of cosmetic dentistry and the science of restorative dentistry, Dr. Brad Burtwistle can rebuild and renew your smile.

We’ll work closely with you to understand your dental needs and cosmetic goals and personalize a dental reconstruction plan that’s unique to your smile.

We provide the following reconstructive dental services:

Solea Dental Laser at Monument Family Dentistry
We utilize the Solea® Dental Laser on many of our reconstructive procedures. This state-of-the-art laser technology removes the need for drilling and anesthesia, providing a more comfortable experience overall.

For cavity fillings, we also use composite material. Composite fillings adhere better to teeth, remove the need for unsightly amalgam silver fillings, reduce teeth sensitivity, and restore the natural beauty of your smile.

Mouth Guards for Teeth Grinding

Do you grind your teeth in the middle of the night, or frequently wake up in the morning with a sore jaw and a headache? Has long-term teeth grinding or clenching caused long-term damage to your teeth?

If you’re struggling with teeth grinding, Dr. Burtwistle and our team can fit your teeth for a customized mouth guard and help you better manage your pain and reduce the effects of jaw clenching/grinding.
