What Is CEREC® CAD/CAM Technology?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, or in short, Ceramic Reconstruction.
CEREC crown restorations are designed and milled with CAD/CAM technology (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing). Rather than traditional mold impressions, CAD/CAM technology makes it possible to take digital tooth impressions ‒ faster and more accurately.
How CEREC® Same-Day Crowns & Bridges Work
Traditional dental crowns are usually made from porcelain, resin, and even metal. These materials are often hard to match the natural color of a patient’s tooth. These types of crowns are also more susceptible to damage and plaque buildup.
CEREC® same-day crowns, on the other hand, are custom-made to match the natural color of your teeth. Because of the innovative fabrication capabilities of CAD/CAM technology, we can also create cavity fillings and dental bridges that match the natural color and precise shape of your teeth. CEREC crowns are also non-abrasive and resilient to plaque. The quick, streamlined procedure is comfortable and eliminates the need for second visits to our dentist’s office, which patients tend to enjoy the most.
Similar to same-day crowns, bridges repair and restore missing or damaged teeth that are adjacent to one another along the bottom or top row of teeth. With CEREC® technology, we can help our patients prevent bone loss and restore their ability to chew and speak properly faster than traditional bridges.
